Should I Get Botox?

News

Are you asking yourself, “should I get Botox?” Do you have unwanted wrinkles crowding up your forehead? Are you developing fine lines at a faster rate than your friends? Botox can change your life. It can also help with neck spasms, excessive sweating, an overactive bladder, lazy eye, and helps prevent chronic migraines.

When to Start Botox?

Are you wondering when to get botox? Experts recommend starting botox treatments early. Any patient over the age of eighteen is an eligible candidate for Botox. Ideally, you should begin treatment as soon as you notice fine lines or wrinkles developing on your skin. These lines will typically appear as early as your 20’s and will become more prevalent in your 30’s.

Receiving Botox injections as soon as you notice lines developing is known as preventative Botox. As the name suggests, this treatment is done to prevent fine lines and wrinkles from developing in the first place. Medical spa experts have found that patients who start receive preventative botox at an earlier age are less likely to develop fine lines and wrinkles in the future. At Melamed Weight and Wellness, we suggest you make a consultation if you are interested in preventative Botox because the treatment can be incredibly beneficial.

Should I Get Botox? It Is Never Too Late to Start

Whether you are 20 years old or 80 years old, there is no shame in getting rid of unnecessary wrinkles and lines. Botox injections work by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles causing wrinkles and lines in the area to soften. If you missed the window for preventative botox, you could still receive treatment for wrinkles and lines that have already developed, and your skin should look younger after the first treatment.

What Should I Expect From My Botox Appointment?

Botox is relatively simple and requires no anesthesia. Although the idea of needles touching your face may scare you, patients have reported feeling only minor discomfort. The needles used are tiny and delicate, which helps minimize the pain. At Melamed Weight and Wellness, we numb the area with a topical anesthetic cream or a cold pack about ten to twenty minutes before the treatment to prevent any pain at all.

Botox appointments are fast. The injections only take a few minutes, and the results begin to show just a few days after the procedure. All side effects are only temporary. You may experience headaches or eye drooping for the first 24 hours, but this is rare. Most patients do not experience any side effects.

Another great thing about getting Botox is that the results last at least 3-4 months. During those months, you will see your botox working in full effect. Your skin will look tighter and your complexion younger. The effects will eventually fade out, and that’s when you can return to the medical spa for another round of treatment.

Where on My Body Can I Get Botox?

Botox injections block some chemical signals from the nerves. These signals cause muscles to contract and wrinkles and lines to disappear. The great thing about it is that it can be used as a beauty enhancer, but it can also help with migraines, serious sweating, and a few other issues.

Botox can dramatically reduce sweating in the armpits, palms, buttocks, scalp, and feet. Over sweating is known as hyperhidrosis. These injections can also help treat neck spasms (cervical dystonia) and an overactive bladder.
